Repucom has teamed up with CyclingNews.com – the world’s leading pro cycling news website – to produce a new report into the health of cycling sponsorship.
Cycling has suffered severe setbacks in recent years as a result of a series of doping scandals that have blighted the sport.
However, in terms of global exposure, this report shows that it remains one of the most undervalued properties in sports. It quantifies the scale of the commercial market of pro road cycling, using Repucom media exposure, market intelligence, audience analysis and market research as benchmarks.
Charlie Dundas, Managing Director of Repucom UK & Ireland, said: “The Cycling Sponsorship Report 2013 represents a commercial health check for pro cycling and an opportunity to drive debate around sponsorship in the sport. Our findings show that professional road cycling delivers significant value for current sponsors and its fans are more engaged with sponsors when compared to other sporting audiences. We believe cycling, in comparison to other sports, is under valued.”
Daniel Benson, Managing Editor of CyclingNews.com, adds: “The results of the Cycling Sponsorship Report 2013 are of vital importance to the world of cycling, and we hope this will help in commercially getting cycling where it deserves to be.”
