Motorsport.com’s Kate Walker met with Nielsen Sport’s SVP Motorsport Nigel Geach and Head of Motorsport in Europe, Samantha Lamberti to discuss growing F1’s fan bases.

Market research has become something of a buzzphrase in the Liberty era of F1, with the sport’s new owners making a concerted push to not only better market the sport itself through events like July’s F1 Live event in London, but also to use research to extend F1’s reach beyond its core fanbase. At the start of the 2017 F1 season, Nielsen Sports launched Motorsports most comprehensive fan surveys, which included the responses of over 200,000 people from 194 countries. The results of the 2017 survey which is free to download showed that F1 was experiencing a positive turnaround in public perception
