Stamford, Conn. 03.31.2015 – When Chief Executive Officer Paul Smith founded Repucom in 2004, Danny Townsend was the first person he hired to help carry out his vision. Over the past decade, Townsend has been a key player in building Repucom into a global sports and entertainment marketing intelligence company with more than 1,500 employees in 20 countries around the world.
Townsend’s leadership, passion and knowledge of the global sponsorship landscape have earned him the honor of being named to SportsBusiness Journal’s Forty Under 40 class of 2015. SportsBusiness Journal featured Townsend in its March 30 edition and will honor him at the Forty Under 40 gala on April 9 in Los Angeles.

Townsend has been the Global Chief Revenue Officer of Repucom since 2012. He is also president of Repucom’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa operations.
In 2006, he moved from Sydney, Australia to Singapore to set up Repucom operations in Asia. Over the next three years, he was personally responsible for expanding the business in Japan, Korea, India and the Middle East. In 2009, he relocated to London to establish Repucom’s presence in Europe. Over the following four years, he led Repucom to a market leading position in the UK before playing a key role in the acquisition of competing agencies Sport+Markt and IFM Sports Marketing Surveys. The aggregation and integration of these companies solidified Repucom’s market leadership in Europe with offices in the UK, Italy, Spain, France, Netherlands and Germany.
Since taking on the role of global chief revenue officer, Repucom’s revenues have continued to grow in all 20+ markets. Townsend now lives in the United States and works from Repucom’s global headquarters in Stamford, Conn. He and his wife Kate have two daughters, Claudia, 9, and Gracie, 7.
